Did you know...
…that most of the photos of female yogis you see online feature people with hypermobility—or joint laxity? This condition allows their joints to easily move beyond the natural range of motion (often accompanied by various other symptoms). Such individuals are frequently drawn to yoga and dance, and because they are “photogenic,” they tend to be the ones representing the yoga world.
But the truth is, you don’t need to be flexible or athletic to join a yoga class and experience its wonderful benefits. If your goal is to master the splits or a headstand, and you approach yoga as a competitive sport, then my style of yoga is NOT for you.
However, if you want to regulate your nervous system, gently stretch your muscles, care for your joints, find relief from back pain, and relax your mind, then keep reading.
My yoga practice is gentle, nurturing, and accessible, making it suitable for every body—regardless of size or fitness level.
I primarily draw upon Yin and Hatha styles, while also incorporating principles of biomechanics and functional training. I weave these together with elements of self-love and an awareness of the menstrual cycle and how it influences one’s yoga practice.
My classes are designed for beginners and intermediate practitioners; I typically offer various options to either ease or intensify the sensations in each pose, depending on your preferences and experience.
Yoga is a wonderful tool that teaches you how to better navigate your body and cultivate greater understanding and acceptance of its limitations, while revealing what a magnificent gift your body is from nature—or the Creator.
